Poor
The app doesnt work. Its not user friendly at all and when I wrote the developer about it all he was interested in was expanding his platform. Instead of addressing the issues (online and on their website) he kept asking me to talk to my schools professors in charge of the histology department about his app ("kept asking me" because I sent two emails to him. In both responses he wanted to contact my medical universitys histology department). Very weird responses. The app developers sound like theyre only interested in one thing..
Nice, but nothing special
This is a simple series of virtual slides. As a result, a continuous Internet connect is necessary to use the app. The images are of sufficient resolution, but the quality of the histological slides varies. Some are nice, whereas other slides display badly fractured tissues. The inclusion of developmental virtual slides is a nice feature. Overall, for most Smart Histology images there are better virtual slides available on the Internet for free (see the free WholeSlide app). The multiple language feature (English, Deutsch, French and Spanish) of the app is appealing and the English version is usually correct. Overall, most areas of human histology are covered. Nice the labeling of specific structures is good. Unfortunately, the shaded labels can’t be inactivated and they can’t be used to quiz one’s own histology knowledge. Although nothing special and new, this app has some useful features.
Nice app, but needs more images
I like the quality of the images. It would be better if it had more images, though.
